Prostitute Soliciting in the Street or Public Place

Street Offences Act 1959 s1

It shall be an offence for a common prostitute (whether male or female) to loiter or solicit in a street or public place for the purpose of prostitution.

A person commits an offence if they solicit another person (or different persons) for the purposes of prostitution-

From a motor vehicle while it is in a street or public place, OR

In a street or public place while in the immediate vicinity of a motor vehicle that they have just out of or off,

Persistently, in such a manner or circumstances as to be likely to cause annoyance to the person (or any of the persons) solicited, or nuisance to other persons in the neighbourhood.

Prostitution – Placing of Adverts in Telephone Boxes

Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 s46

A person commits an offence if-

They place on, or in the immediate vicinity of a public telephone an advertisement relating to prostitution, AND

They do so with the intention that the advertisement should come to the attention of another person or persons.

It is an offence for a person to keep a brothel, or to manage, or act or assist in the management of a brothel

It is an offence for a person to keep, or to manage, or act or assist in the management of, a brothel to which people resort for practices involving prostitution (whether or not also for other practices).
